How to Train as an MBSR Teacher

To train as an MBSR Teacher, the Mindfulness Best Practice Guidelines require completion of an in-depth, rigorous mindfulness-based teacher training programme and supervised pathway over a minimum duration of 12 months. This is referred to as the Teacher Training Pathway or (TTP) 

The MBSR Teacher Training Pathway (TTP) with Mindful Academy:

Before applying for a space on a Teacher Training course you should :

Be a minimum of 25 years old

Have 1-2 years meditation experience a minimum of 5 times per week (not necessarily Mindfulness) 

Attend a LIVE 8 week qualified teacher lead MBSR/ MBCT course as a participant either -

    In your home location with a qualified MBSR/MBCT Teacher OR
      Complete the Mindful Academy LIVE Online 8 week MBSR course from your own home either in a group or 1-1 OR

        Attend a 6 Day Intensive Residential Retreat at Solterreno

         

        • PLEASE NOTE - We do not accept 8 week MBSR Courses where you are self paced and do not have LIVE interaction with a qualified MBSR/MBCT Teacher

        Once your application has been accepted, you will also need to complete the required TTR1 Pre-course Study (sent on payment of deposit)

        OPTIONAL - Undertake Supervision as outlined in the Mindfulness Good Practice Guidelines to help you prepare for the course and deepen your personal practice

         

        Step 1. Attend the 100hr MBSR Foundation Teacher Training TTR1 with Mindful Academy:

        Attend the 11 day residential TTR1 in Solterreno Retreat Centre

        Includes Mindful Movement and Inquiry teaching and teaching practice

        Includes Assesment with the MBI-TAC

        AND THEN

        Complete the Personal and Professional development as discussed during the Mindfulness-based Teaching Assessment Criteria (MBI-TAC) feedback and end of TTR1 course review

        Undertake ongoing Supervision and development as outlined in the Mindfulness Good Practice Guidelines

         

        Step 2. Gain teaching experience and deepen your personal practice:

        Practice Teaching the MBSR core practices including Mindful Movement learnt during the MBSR Foundation course TTR1 to family, friends, in classes or workshops

        Attend a 5-7 day Silent retreat as a participant before applying for a space on the Advanced MBSR Teacher Training course TTR2

        Optional depending on skills of the individual -

        • Co-lead an 8 week MBSR course and/or
        • Lead an 8 week MBSR course with the Mindful Academy Supervision package or as per the Mindfulness Best Practice Guidelines a minimum of 3 hours supervision per course

        Continue your Personal and Professional development as discussed during the MBI-TAC teaching assessment criteria feedback and end of TTR1 course review

        Undertake ongoing Supervision and development as outlined in the Mindfulness Good Practice Guidelines

         

        Step 3. Attend the 100hr Advanced Accreditation Training TTR2 with Mindful Academy:

        Complete the required TTR2 Pre-course Study

        Attend the 11 day residential Advanced MBSR Teacher Training course TTR2 in Solterreno Retreat Centre

        Includes Mindful Movement and Inquiry teaching and teaching practice

        Includes Assesment with the MBI-TAC

        On successful graduation from both TTR1 and TTR2 you will be awarded the Mindful Academy Accredited MBSR Teacher (AMT) certificate

         

        Step 4. Ongoing Supervision and Mindfulness Best Practice guidelines:

        Undertake ongoing Supervision and development as outlined in the Mindfulness Good Practice Guidelines
