Mindfulness-based Teaching Assessment Criteria (MBI-TAC)

Adapted from the Dreyfus Scale of Competence, 1986 and
The Bangor, Exeter and Oxford Mindfulness-Based Interventions: Teaching Assessment Criteria (MBI:TAC)

These criteria were developed by trainers at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice CMRP Bangor in collaboration with colleagues at the University based mindfulness centres in Exeter and Oxford and also further development by Mindful Academy. The mindfulness-based master’s programmes within the UK, all use these criteria to assess teaching practice skills, and they are also being adopted by training organisations in Europe and the USA. Domain 1 - Coverage, pacing and organisation of session curriculum, Lesson Plans

Domain 2 - Students ability to relate to the participants, Listening Skills

Domain 3 - Embodiment of Mindfulness

Domain 4 - Guiding Mindfulness Practices including Mindful Movement

Domain 5 - Conveying and orienting participants to session/course themes through interactive enquiry, group dialogue, use of poems, facilitation of group exercises
