Catherine Nasskau
Mindfulness and drama teacher, experienced at working with children and adults.
Mindful Academy Solterreno TT1 and TT2 graduate.
I initially worked as a theatre director before moving into education. I studied Dramatherapy and also worked with children with special needs. I trained with MiSP (Mindfulness in Schools Project) to teach their ‘.b’ mindfulness course for 11-18 year olds and I am fortunate to work in a school where mindfulness is on the curriculum. I currently teach several classes a week to both students and staff.
My main adult mindfulness teaching is with Mindful Surrey, a registered UK charity that I set up in 2018. I run workshops and MBSR courses for individuals, schools and businesses, online and in-person, in the south-east of the UK. I also teach holiday mindfulness courses to children, including sessions for parents and children together; my new 'Mindfulness through Drama' course is proving to be popular with students as well as their parents!
In my early career in London, besides working in the theatre and drama schools, I facilitated self-development courses. I learned about human behaviour and ideas that are central to mindfulness as it is presented today. Understanding the importance of the present moment and that I was ‘not my thoughts’ was very liberating. I discovered ‘modern’ mindfulness in 2012 when I took my first MBSR course. I found this profoundly useful and I have been meditating regularly ever since. I started my mindfulness teacher training with The Mindful Academy in 2018 and have completed TT1 and TT2
Making a difference to others has always been important to me, whether this be through using drama or through sharing the gift of mindfulness.
