Catherine Nasskau

I am a mindfulness and drama teacher, and I am experienced at working with children and adults from a range of backgrounds.
Mindful Academy Solterreno TT1 graduate.

I initially worked as a theatre director before moving into education. I studied Dramatherapy and also worked with children with special needs. I trained with MiSP (Mindfulness in Schools Project) to teach their ‘.b’ mindfulness course for 11-18 year olds and I am fortunate to work in a school where mindfulness is on the curriculum. I currently teach several classes a week to both students and staff. I also run Mindful Surrey, offering mindfulness workshops and courses to individuals, schools and businesses. At present these are based on the core mindfulness practices and I intend to start leading MBSR courses in October 2019.

In my early career in London, besides working in the theatre and drama schools, I facilitated self-development courses. I learned about human behaviour and ideas that are central to mindfulness as it is presented today. Understanding the importance of the present moment and that I was ‘not my thoughts’ was very liberating. I discovered ‘modern’ mindfulness in 2012 when I took my first MBSR course. I found this profoundly useful and I have been meditating regularly ever since. I trained to teach the core mindfulness practices at The Mindful Academy Solterreno in 2018 and I will shortly complete TT2.

Making a difference to others has always been important to me, whether this be through using drama to contribute to young people or through sharing the gift of mindfulness.

I have attended two retreats at Solterreno so far and found both among the most valuable experiences I've ever had, with all aspects carefully designed to facilitate positive change. The content was…

Silent retreat and MBSR+Yoga course

As most teachers of mindfulness approaches, my pathway is founded on a deeply personal engagement with the practice over a number of years, since 2002. Coupled with the persistent and increasing empirical basis for MBSR, I was drawn to join the training pathway in 2013 - so that I may offer…

Mindfulness Teacher Training Pathway

As someone who has worked in education in the UK for over 20 years I was very impressed with the way this course was delivered.

It was a fantastic course run by exceptionally skilled, caring and humorous leaders in a stunning setting in Spain.

Delicious food was provided with…

< My journey of Mindfulness >

When I was introduced to the concept of Mindfulness in 2009, I attended the
8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR), which gave me valuable insight into my own ‘patterns’ and ‘autopilot’. As an ambitious mother, I was struggling…

The love and care and nurture that has gone into the development of this Centre are very evident in everything right from the teaching to the most practical aspects of living and food arrangements. there is an embodiment of the Mindfulness-Based practices throughout the course.

Thank you…

I took Level 1 in Solterreno last May and I am so glad I did. The description on the website is in line with the actual course and it gives you a concrete overall idea of the MBSR program.

We went through both the content of each of the 8 MBSR sessions and to the competences to work on…

I would definitely recommend the MBSR teacher training at Solterreno. The course was very professionally delivered by both of the trainers. The program of the input sessions was sensibly structured giving the participants just the right amount of knowledge and providing them with lots of…

The mindfulness teacher training at Solterreno exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere is very supportive, created by the caring nature of Bodhin and the retreat team, which in turn leads to a strong connection within the group. The course has a good level of focus on hands-on practice with…
