Teacher Training Pathway (TTP)

To train as an MBSR Teacher:-

At Mindful Academy Solterreno, we strongly adhere to the Good Practice Guidelines in our training programmes and Teacher Training Pathway. These require the completion of an in-depth, rigorous mindfulness-based teacher training programme and supervised pathway over a minimum duration of 12 months. We also believe that a commitment to teaching Mindfulness means more than simply meeting these criteria - instead, the teacher embarks on a continuous journey to embed a Mindful way of being into their own everyday lives. 

The MBSR Teacher Training Pathway (TTP) with Mindful Academy Solterreno:

Before applying for a space on a Teacher Training course you should: 

Be a minimum of 25 years old

Have 1 year of meditation experience a minimum of 5 times per week (not necessarily Mindfulness) 

Attend a LIVE 8 week qualified teacher lead MBSR/ MBCT course as a participant 
Either - In your home location with a qualified Teacher 
OR Attend a 6 Day Intensive Residential MBSR course Retreat at Solterreno
OR Attend a LIVE ONLINE 8-week MBSR course with Mindful Academy Solterreno


Step 1. Attend the MBSR Foundation Teacher Training TTR1

TTR1Complete the required TT1 Pre-course Study (sent to you on booking)

Attend the residential TTR1 in Solterreno Retreat Centre which Includes Mindful Movement and Inquiry teaching and teaching practice.


Step 2. Gain teaching experience and deepen your personal practice: 

Practice Teaching the MBSR core practices including Mindful Movement learnt during the MBSR Foundation course TT1 to family, friends, in classes or workshops

Deepen your personal practice by for example attending a 5-7 day Silent retreat as a participant.

Optional depending on skills of the individual - Optionally Co-lead an 8-week MBSR course and/or Lead an 8-week MBSR course with the Mindful Academy Supervision package or as per the Mindfulness Best Practice Guidelines a minimum of 3 hours supervision per course.

Continue your Personal and Professional development as discussed during the MBI-TAC teaching assessment criteria feedback and end of TTR1 course review

Undertake ongoing Supervision and development as outlined in the Mindfulness Good Practice Guidelines


Step 3. Attend the Advanced Accreditation Training TTR2 

TTR2Complete the required TT2 Pre-course Study (sent to you on booking)

Attend the residential TTR2 Advanced MBSR Teacher Training course, this Includes Mindful Movement and Inquiry and teaching practice.


Step 4. Teaching, Supervision and Mindfulness Best Practice guidelines: 

Start Teaching the MBSR 8 week course with Supervision. Teaching an MBSR 8 Week courses under supervision.

Deepen your personal practice by for example attending a 5-7 day Silent retreat as a participant.



Step 5. Qualified Mindfulness MBSR Teacher: 

This "Ready to Teach" Qualified MBSR Teacher certificate will be awarded upon:

Submission of Reflective Journal of 2,500 words

Submission of Certificates of TTR1, TTR2, 5-day Silent Retreat, Supervised Teaching of an 8-week course.
